Decodable Readers

Decodable readers gradually introduce new letter-sound patterns as they are taught. Designed for beginning readers, all (or almost all) words can be sounded out.

The Dyslexia Hub Library has been established to provide kids of all ages with access to a wide range of dyslexia-friendly reading material.

Membership will enable both families and schools to borrow from our sizable collection of over 1500 books, including:

  • decodable readers (Prep - Grade 1)

  • catch-up decodable readers (Grade 2 - Grade 6)

  • hi-lo chapter books (high interest, low reading level books for older, struggling readers)

  • graphic novels

  • books with dyslexic characters

  • junior and teen fiction

  • parent/teacher reference books

Series in our collection include: Little Learners Love Literacy (Pip and Tim & Wiz Kids), Phonic Books Australia, Dandelion Readers, Snappy Sounds, Project X (Code, Hero Academy, Origins & Alien Adventures) Rapid Phonics, Phonic Books (Totem, Talisman, Magic Belt, Alba, Moon Dogs etc.), Sound Out (Chapter Books & InfoMAGs), MRI, Read Write Inc. Fresh Start, Sounds Write (Battle Cries), Barrington Stoke, High Noon, Rip Rap, Red Rhino…and more.

For more information on decodable readers, see this wonderful article from Five From Five.

The library will be staffed by literacy specialists qualified to offer expert guidance and support.

Our entire catalogue is available online – https://dyslexiahub.libib.com/  so you can see what’s available before coming in and place holds on items you’d like to borrow.

Family library memberships are open to anyone – not just existing Dyslexia Hub families. Teacher memberships will also be available, enabling teaching professionals to access more appropriate reading material for struggling readers in their classes.
